- All tryouts are 2 days. Although not mandatory, it is highly recommended to attend BOTH days of tryouts. Players who are offered a spot on a team will receive an offer letter via email after tryouts are complete and will have until the end of weekend after the conclusion of tryouts to accept the position on the team.
- Players must arrive early and check in prior to entering onto the field. A bib number will be provided. These will be preassigned for anyone already registered. Lists will be provided to coaches with the preassigned numbers. Any player not registered for tryouts will be assigned a number and coaches will need to get their names.
- Players do not need to check in second day if they were present first day. If a player needs a new bib sticker or did not make it the first day, they need to check in the second day and get a bib sticker.
- Players who are not offered a spot on a team will receive a decline letter shortly later after we’ve confirmed the team rosters.
- Coaches are to provide a roster plus two alternatives to the Area EXTRA Coordinator by the end of the second day of tryouts. The spreadsheet is to be emailed to the Area EXTRA Coordinator and sorted in alphabetical order by last name. The Area EXTRA Coordinator will confirm with the coaches on alternatives if any of the initial offers are rejected prior to extending offers to alternatives. If multiple coaches select the same alternative player, offers will be made in order that notices are received that a team has a rejected offer.

MY25 EXTRA Tryout Roster Template
- All offers must be accepted and registration fees paid by end of day Sunday June 8th
- Coaches are to provide a final roster with uniform size for each player on their team as well as shirt size for the coach and assistant coach by end of day Thursday June 12th so we can place uniform orders. Send a spreadsheet via email to the Area EXTRA Coordinator. Uniform numbers are not needed nor will requests be received. Numbers will be randomly selected by the uniform vendor.
- Coaches are expected to attend the EXTRA Summer Clinic with their entire team. Parents are expected to attend the LOTG clinic as well.
- Coaches shall have a mandatory team meeting within two weeks of tryouts and go over expectations for the team and Coach/Player/Parent Code of Conduct.
- Get together with your coaching staff to set goals, direction, expectations so EVERYONE is on the same page. The coaching staff should be a TEAM.
- We will NOT allow bullying, toxic environments, etc. Please report such behavior.
- If you need help creating and enforcing expectations let the Area Coach Admin know or reach out to the Area EXTRA Coordinator.
- Zero Tolerance for parents talking to Refs during the match and for anyone yelling at referees. Manage your sideline.
• Team Expectations
- Coaches set expectations at tryouts for their team regarding practices, attendance, camps, tournaments, and indoor soccer
- Wear proper uniform to games (have to be the shirt, shorts, and socks provided for the EXTRA team), bring both uniforms to all games as well just in case.
- U12 players (players, parents, and coaches) need to take referee training. Players need to referee at a minimum 2 games. Must be at least 10 years old.
Team Formation:
Participation in the AYSO EXTRA program is determined by tryouts. Potential players must try out and be selected to play on an AYSO EXTRA soccer team each year. If a coach is selected for the EXTRA program and chooses to retain players from their previous team, the coach may extend an offer to those players the day before tryouts. If those players accept the position on the team, they do not need to attend tryouts. Any players who have not accepted a position extended to them before the day of tryouts must attend tryouts.
Teams stay together for the entire year. Coaches are not able to drop a player once they are added to the roster. Exceptions will be made if a parent notifies the Area EXTRA coordinator that their child is no longer eligible to play for the rest of the season. This may be due to the family moving away, a child getting injured for the rest of the spring or other extenuating circumstances.
If a team has a vacancy after the fall season has started, the vacancy will not be filled until after the fall season. Deadline to fill any vacancies after completing tryouts is August 1st. We need time to verify registrations and order uniforms. Likewise, any teams needing to fill vacancies in the spring will need to do so before March 15th.
Number of players per team?
Roster size and number of players on the field will be the same as the AYSO core program.
Max roster of 10 for U10
Max roster of 12 for U12
All players are required to upload player photos and birth certificate to be eligible to play and team rosters will be checked by referees prior to games via use of the Sports Connect Team page on the coaches phone.
THERE ARE NO SUBSTITUTIONS TO THOSE ON THE ROSTER
